DAY 1 – NEW YORK • ROME

Begin your Passion Play journey by departing for Rome. Meals and overnight on board.

DAY 2 • ROME
Early afternoon arrival. Dinner at hotel.

DAY 3 • ANCIENT ROME • CATACOMBS
After breakfast we prepare for a walking tour of Piazza and Palazzo Venezia, Victor Emanuel II monument the Trevi Fountain including visits to the Roman Forum and Coliseum. In the afternoon we visit St John’s Gate, Via Latina, Old Appia Way, Chapel of “Domine Quo Vadis?”, Catacombs of St. Callixtus or St. Sebastian the site of over 125,000 martyrdoms, St. Sebastian’s Gate, the Caracalla Baths, and the Circus Maximus.

DAY 4 • ROME • VATICAN
This morning attend the weekly Papal Audience and Blessing given by His Holiness. The rest of the day is at leisure. Continue to explore Rome during our tour of St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican with the Sistine Chapel.



DAY 5 • ROME
Morning visit to four churches in Rome which will have the Holy Doors open: St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major, St. Pater in Chains, and St. Paul Outside the Wall. Afternoon at leisure for additional shopping or sightseeing on your own.

DAY 6 • ASSISI • FLORENCE
Today we head north leaving the Eternal City of Rome for Florence. Take a drive to St. Francis’ Assisi, the city of birds and silence where we stop for a lunch and a guided walking tour including a visit to St. Francis’ Basilica, Chapel of Portiuncola and Church of St. Clare. Continue through Perugia visting scenic Tuscany on our way. Arrive in Florence for the night.

DAY 7 • FLORENCE
Today we take a walking tour of the Cradle of the Renaissance, Florence. We will view the multi-colored marble Cathedral of the Duomo, the Campanile tower, the Baptistry, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, and a visit to the Academia to see the Statue of David. The afternoon is at leisure. We have an optional visit to the Uffizi Museum to marvel over Botticelli’s Venus or visit the Pitti Palace treasures. Dinner on own.

DAY 8 • FLORENCE • SIENA
Today we take a day trip to the two mystical medieval cities of San Gimignano and Siena, with Sunday mass in the catherdal. Dinner on own.

DAY 9 • FLORENCE • PADUA
This morning we depart Florence for Padua as we drive along the Venezian Gulf up to Ravenna, called the Byzantium of the West, to see the mosaics of Europe. Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 10 • PADUA • OBERAMMERGAU
This morning visit Basilica of St. Anthony for mass. Depart for Oberammergau site of the Passion Play for dinner and overnight.

DAY 11 • OBERAMMERGAU
Full day in Oberammergau for the Passion Play. A village in the Bavarian Alps, famous for its woodcarving industry. In the year 1633, the town was stricken by the plague. In desperation the people of the village took an oath that they would stage a performance of the Passion of Jesus every 10 years if the plague would vanish and save their town. The town was saved and the first performance took place in 1634. From 1690 on, the play has been performed regularly every 10 years. The play takes almost eight hours to perform and the 124 speaking parts are performed by inhabitants of the village. The audience is seated in a roofed auditorium while the stage is open-air. Lunch and dinner are included.

DAY 12 • OBERAMMERGAU • MUNICH
This morning we depart Oberammergau for Munich. En route we visit the quaint Alp and Olympic Games Resort of Garmish Parten Kirchen and visit King Ludwig II’s magnificent creation, Neuschwanstein Castle, which Walt Disney based his fairytale castle after. Arrive in Munich where we will enjoy a guided panoramic city tour by bus focusing on the main sights of this cultural center: Marienplatz, the Palace, the City Hall with its famous Glockenspiel Clock, and the Olympic Village. Proceed to our hotel to enjoy a “farewell” dinner and overnight.

DAY 13 • MUNICH • NEW YORK
This morning we transfer to the Munich airport and depart on our hometown flight.
