DAY 1 – NEW YORK • ZURICH
Begin your Passion Play journey by departing for Zurich. Meals and overnight
on board.
DAY 2 • ZURICH • GENEVA
We arrive at Zurich airport where our tour guide will meet us after
customs and take us on a brief orientation tour of Zurich to view some
Zwingli sites, and busy Bahnhof Strasse before driving to Geneva. An
afternoon guided tour of Geneva will include the Old Town, The Reformation
Monument and the St. Peter’s Cathedral. Dinner and overnight at
our hotel.
DAY 3 • GENEVA • LUCERNE
After breakfast we continue to the lovely lake shore city of Lucerne
to enjoy a guided walking tour of the Old Town with its pretty open
air market, the unusual covered bridges, Kapell and Spreuer and the
Lion Monument. We have the afternoon free for shopping and individual
sightseeing. Some may choose to take an optional excursion to Mt. Pilatus
or Rigi Kulm for the hikers or a boat trip on the lake for romantics.
Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
DAY 4 • LUCERNE • INNSBRUCK • OBERAMMERGAU
This morning we head for Austria and en route we will enter the tiny
Principality of Liechtenstein, for a brief photo stop. Proceed to Innsbruck
for a quick lunch and to view the Little Golden Roof. Then we continue
for a guided visit of Lindderhof Castle with its cascades and gardens.
Early evening arrival in Oberammergau site of the Passion Play for dinner
and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 5 • OBERAMMERGAU
Full day in Oberammergau for the Passion Play. A village in the Bavarian
Alps, famous for its woodcarving industry. In the year 1633, the town
was stricken by the Plague. In desperation the people of the village
took an oath that they would stage a performance of the Passion of Jesus
every 10 years if the plague would vanish and save their town. The town
was saved and the first performance took place in 1634. From then on
the play has been performed regularly every 10 years. The play takes
almost eight hours to perform and the 124 speaking parts are performed
by the inhabitants of the village. The audience is seated in a roofed
auditorium while the stage is open air. Lunch and dinner are included.
DAY 6 • OBERAMMERGAU • AUGSBURG • SALZBURG
Heading north this morning we stop and have a look at the Wies Church,
Domenicus Zimmerman’s amazing masterpiece of Bavarian rococo,
and proceed to the Roman city of Augsburg with its gothic impressive
cathedral. We proceed to Mozart’s Salzburg where we have a guided
walking tour upon arrival showing us the Old Town, the Domplatz with
baroque Cathedral, the Residenz, the quaint Getriedesgasse, the Festspielhaus,
the Hohen-salzburg from a distance, the Glockenspiel Tower the lovely
Mirabell Garden and visit Mozart’s birthplace. Dinner and overnight
at the hotel.
DAY 7 • SALZBURG • PRAGUE
Today a full days drive via Linz and the Czech Republic via Ceske Budejovice
up to Prague. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 8 • PRAGUE
Our guided morning sightseeing tour reveals why Prague is considered
one of Europe’s most attractive capitals. See 1000 year old Hradany
Castle, the former residence of bohemian kings, St. Vitas Cathedral,
the Astronomical Clock and Wenceslaus Square hub of modern Prague. Balance
of the afternoon free to shop for hand-cut crystal or art books. Dinner
and overnight at our hotel.
DAY 9 • PRAGUE • LEIPZIG • WITTENBERG
Drive to Leipzig for lunch and visit St. Thomas Church. Continue to
Wittenberg for a guided sightseeing tour, where Luther lectured at the
University and lived for 36 years until his death. It was here on the
door of the Castle Church that Luther nailed his thesis. In the Castle
Church are the tombs of Luther and Melancton. The Luther House is the
world’s largest museum devoted to the history of the Reformation.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 10 • WITTENBERG • EISLEBEN • ERFURT
First stop today is Eislebenn. Visit Luther’s birthplace, his
baptismal church and the house where he died. Continue to Wiemar which
symbolizes classical German culture. See the Franciscan Monastery, (now
the Franz Liszt Academy of Music), where Luther stayed on his way to
Augsburg for interrogation by Cardinal Cajetan, and the Municipal Palace
where his various sermons between 1521 and 1540 are historically authenti-cated.
We proceed to Erfurt for guided sightseeing upon arrival including the
Augustinian church and monastery, where Luther lived as a Monk, the
Franciscan church where Luther preached in 1529 and St. Mary’s
Cathedral where Luther was ordained as a priest. Dinner and overnight
at the hotel.
DAY 11 • ERFURT • COBURG • NURNBERG •
ROTHENBURG
This morning drive to Coburg. Luther stayed for six months in Coburg
Fortress in order to follow the negotiations at the Imperial Diet in
Augsburg. Visit the Luther room and the Luther chapel. Then on to Nurnberg
which was the first town in the Empire into which the reformation was
introduced in 1525. Continue to Rothenburg for dinner and overnight.
DAY 12 • ROTHENBURG
This morning a guided walking tour of the Pearl of the Romantic Road,
seeing the Old Town with its Town Hall, the Baumeisterhaus, the Ploniein
Herrengasse and the Ramparts. The balance of the day is at leisure.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 13 • ROTHENBURG • WORMS • HEIDELBERG
Depart today for Worms, where Luther refused to retract his beliefs
and was banned from the Empire by the Diet. See the Church of Our Lady
which has given its name to the famous “Liebfraumilch” wine,
the world’s largest Reformation Memorial, the Trinity Church and
the Imperial Cathedral. Continue on to Heidelberg for a guided panoramic
city tour including a visit to the Heidelberg Castle. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 14 • HEIDELBERG • BLACK FOREST • ZURICH
Travel through the Black Forest to Triberg to see the Cuckoo-Clock factory,
then continue via the Rhine falls to Zurich. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 15 • ZURICH • NEW YORK
Transfer to the airport where our guide will assist us with check-in
procedures. Return flight back to the States with arrival the same day.
